Beijing: Jingshan Park
From Jingshan Park, looking west, toward the sunset. The
secret is not to go to the highest pagoda, which is awash in
photographers, but to watch the sunset from the next one down the hill,
which is nearly deserted and has almost as good a view. This was a
fabulously clear day, and the spires of Xizhimen are clearly visible,
as are the Western Hills. Beihai is in the foreground, with the White
Pagoda at left. A swift is rocketing across the frame. All images on this page are copyright © 2005 by Diccon William Moss.
