Sipadan

Photos below are from both Sipadan and nearby Kapalai. If you are heading to the area, I suggest dividing your time between Sipadan proper (which may be hard if the Malaysian government follows through on its recent plan to eject all dive operators from Sipadan island) and one of the nearby muck diving sites. You get the most from the area that way.

I spent three days each at Sipadan and Kapalai (a muck-friendly sandbar within sight of Sipadan). It was a grand week. As you would expect, turtles and barracuda were the order of the day at Sipadan. All imaginable critters could be found at Kapalai, most within fifty feet of the jetty. Topside shot is the Drop Off, at Sipadan Island.
